La bandera de los Zuavos Carlistas. The Carlist´s Zouaves flag


Esta bandera pertenece al batallón de Zuavos de la Escolta del Infante Don Alfonso Carlos de Borbón.

Representada por los colores de la bandera de España, rojo, igualda, rojo. Dos inscripciones se encuentran en ella. Ejercito Real en la parte superior y Zuavos Carlistas en la parte inferior. Tres símbolos aparecen en la parte central sobre un fondo de nubes. El escudo real, el sagrado corazón de Jesús y el escudo de los Zuavos Pontificios.

La bandera fue bordada en un convento de Vigne (Genova – Italia) y la Infanta Doña Maria de las Nieves de Braganza la regalo al Batallón de Zuavos. Se bendijo el 1 de julio de 1873 en Súria (Barcelona - España) y fue entregada al Comandante de los Zuavos Ignacio Wills por los Infantes.

Pero de donde viene la fama de esta bandera, es en el asalto de Igualda ( Barcelona – España), el 19 de julio de 1873, tras ser abatido el abanderado, el comandante Wills, tras recibir varios dispararos la lanzó al otro lado de las murallas, y gritó “Los zuavos van donde va su bandera”, y tras esto las tropas zuavas carlistas, recuperaron la bandera y consiguieron conquistar Igualada.

In july 1st 1873 in Súria (Barcelona – Spain) was blessed and was given to the Commander of the Carlist Zouaves Ignacio Wills by the Infants.


The fame of this flag comes, in the Igualada (Barcelona - Spain) assault , july 19th 1873, after being lowered abanderaro, Wills commander, after receiving several shoots, trow it sent to the other side , and shouted "the Zouaves go where the flag goes", and after that the Zouave Carlist troops, recovered the flag and were able to conquer the city.
