En este lugar los días 14,15 y 16 de mayo de 1940, el 11º Regimiento de los Zuavos Franceses combatieron heroicamente a los invasores alemanes.

Esta es la camiseta que han realizado desde el 62 Voluntarios Veteranos del Estado de Nueva York Compañia F los Zuavos de Anderson de Australia, del grupo de investigación viva de la historia.

En dos tonalidades, que son las de los zuavos, azul marino y rojo. En la parte delantera con el escudo de la unidad. Y en la parte trasera con el siguiente texto en letras de la época " Nunca faltó una ración, nunca faltó a la lucha"

Zuavos, Los Primeros y más Valientes

En 1979, en el museo de West Point, en la Academia Militar Estadounidense, en West Point, Nueva York, abrió sus puertas una exhibición temporal llamada “ Zuavos … los primeros y los más valientes”. Esta exposición mostró un material en una de las colecciones extensas del museo, y fue la primera en exhibir la memoria de los Zuavos.

En aquel tiempo el autor preparó una breve historia de los Zuavos en el siglo diecinueve que fue publicado como el catálogo de la exposición. Demostró ser tan popular que esto se interesaron tres editoriales. Ahora, en conjunción con Sr. Dean Thomas, esta segunda edición de los Zuavos y su leyenda es publicada. El texto original ha sido revisado y ligeramente ampliado, pero lo que es más importante es que nuevas y mejores ilustraciones han sido añadidas al concepto original.

La historia de los Zuavos se ha perdido prácticamente en la historia. Seguramente el público americano no sabe nada sobre ellos, y aún los entusiastas de Guerra civil a menudo tienen una opinión deformada de su papel en la Guerra Civil. Obviamente los Zuavos no ganaron al Guerra Civil Americana. Ellos realmente, sin embargo, contribuyeron más que el color de sus uniformes a aquel conflicto. Con esto en mente ofrecemos al lector esta breve historia de “Los primeros y más Valientes "

Zouaves the First and the Bravest

In 1979, the West Point Museum, at the United States Military Academy, West Point, New York, opened a temporary exhibit entitled “Zouaves … the First and the Bravest.” This exhibition drew upon the extensive artifacs collections of the museum, and was the first such exhibit of Zouave memorabilia.

At that time the author prepared a brief account of the history of the Zouave in the nineteenth century which was published as an exhibit catalogue. It proved to be so popular that it went throught three publishings. Now, in conjunction with Mr. Dean Thomas, this second account of the Zouave and his legend is published. The original text has been revised and slightly enlarged, but more importantly, new and better illustrations have been added to the original concept.

The story of the Zouave is practically lost to history. Certainly the American public knows nothing of him, and even Civil War enthusiasts often have a distorted view of his role in the Civil War. Obviously Zouaves did not win the American Civil War. They did, however, contribute more than just color to that conflict. With that in mind we offer the reader this brief account of “the First and the Breavest”

I Edición del Zouave Quiz - Zouave Quiz 1st Edition

El próximo 30 de octubre empieza la I Edición del Zouave Quiz.

Se trata de un concurso muy sencillo donde tendrás que demostrar tus conocimientos sobre los Zuavos en general.

La manera de participar es muy sencilla, ya que se establecido un calendario, donde se publicarán de forma automática una pregunta, esta se activará a las 14:00 h (GMT + 1).

Hay dos tipo de pregunta, libre o cerrada, y se formularán unas seis preguntas hasta final de este año. Aquella persona que responda a todas las preguntas en el menor tiempo posible y de forma correcta, optará al premio final, que se comunicará al finalizar la edición. Las respuestas se tienen que enviar a zuavosdelmundo@gmail.com.

Para esta ocasión el premio patrocinado por el Blog Zuavos del Mundo, es una taza personalizada con una foto del 114th Pennsylvania Infantry Compañía H, Zuavos de África , tomada en Peterburg (VA) en agosto de 1864. Al ganador se le enviará el premio sin coste alguno.

Next October 30th starts the 1st Zouave Quiz Edition.

It’s a very simple contest where you will have to demonstrate all your knowledge about the Zouaves.

It’s easy to participate, It’s established a calendar, where a question will be published of automatic form, all of them will be activated at 14:00 h (GMT + 1).

There are two type of question, free or closed, and approximately six questions will be formulated until the end of this year. The person who answers all the questions in the minor possible time and in the correct form, will get the final prize, and will communicate at the end of the edition.

For this occasion the prize sponsored by the Blog Zoueves of the World, is a customized mug with a photo of the 114th Pennsylvania Infantry Co H, Zouaves d´Afrique, took it in Peterburg (VA) in August of 1864. The prize will be send to the winner without any cost of shipment.

El Zuavo de Amadeo Modigliani - The Zouave by Amadeo Modigliani

Este retrato se realizó en 1918 por Amadeo Modigliari. Es un óleo sobre liezo de un tamaño de 63 x 48, 3 cm. Pertenece a una colección privada.

Amadeo Modigliani (1884-1920) uno de los artistas más populares del siglo XX fue un pintor italiano, escultor y dibujante; nació en Leghorn. Modigliani estudio en Venecia y Florencia y llegó a París en 1906. Sin asociarse con cualquier grupo particular o movimiento, Modigliani tomó lo que él quiso de las pinturas de Toulouse-Lautrec, Cézanne, la escultura africana, el Fauves, el Cubismo y otro trabajo experimental de Picasso y Braque.

Forzado dejarlo, debido al polvo que producía el cincel que dañó sus pulmones, ya debilitados por su enfermedad, Modigliani aplicó muchos efectos esculturales en sus retratos y desnudos, en particular la elongación característica de la cabeza, la levedad de la nariz y el cuello largo.

La leyenda de su vida como un Montparnasse excéntrico - apuesto, pobre, orgulloso, amante y metido en la bebida y las drogas - fue cultivada por sus amigos literarios, sobre todo después de su muerte trágica a la edad de 35 años.



This portrait was made in 1918 by Amadeo Modigliari. Its oil on canvas an the size is 24,8" x 19". Actually belongs to a private collection.

Amadeo Modigliani (1884-1920) one of the most popular artists of the 20th century was an Italian painter, sculptor and draughtsman; born in Leghorn. Modigliani studied in Venice and Florence and arrived in Paris in 1906. Without associating himself with any particular group or movement, Modigliani took what he wanted from the paintings of Toulouse-Lautrec, Cézanne, African sculpture, the Fauves, Cubism and other experimental work of Picasso and Braque. More decisive was his meeting with Brancusi; and between 1910 and 1913 it was sculpture that absorbed him.

Forced to give this up because the dust thrown off by the chisel damaged his lungs, already weakened by disease, Modigliani applied many sculptural effects in his portraits and nudes, particularly the characteristic elongation of the head, the long raised ridge of the nose and the long neck.

The legend of his life as a Montparnasse eccentric - handsome, poor, proud, amorous and drugged or drunk - was cultivated by his literary friends, especially after his genuinely tragic death at 35.

Nuevo logo Zuavos del Mundo - New logo Zouaves of the World

Este es el nuevo logo para el blog Zuavos del Mundo.

De forma redonda, con dos tonalidades en marrón, dos frases formando el circulo que pone Zuavos del mundo en español y en ingles, separando las frases con una estrella de seis puntas, como motivo central la lazada y el trébol.

El circulo, representa la globalidad de los Zuavos, que han estado y están presente en los cinco continentes. También representa la forma del planeta tierra, enfatizando el Mundo.

Los colores elegidos en tonalidades marrones, le da un toque vintage, dando a conocer la antigüedad de la creación del primer cuerpo de Zuavos. A esto también se le une, ese fondo antiguo de fondo del logo.

Tanto en la parte superior como la inferior, siguiendo el contorno redondo, están los textos, de Zuavos del Mundo, en español en la parte de arriba y en inglés en la parte de abajo. Su significado es que su lengua materna es el español, pero quiere expandirse al resto del planeta con el idioma ingles, al igual que el blog es bilingüe. Separan a ambos textos, dos estrellas de seis puntas, que son las que utilizan los oficiales del Terç de Suavos.

Finalmente el el motivo central, es la lazada con el trébol, lo que se denomina "tombeau", y que portaban en el uniforme este motivo los Zuavos en la chaqueta. Este podría ser el símbolo con más fuerza que ha caracterizado a los Zuavos, auque han habido otras variaciones.

Agraceder a la labor de Luis Silvestre, por realizar este logo, y plasmar de una forma espectacular todo aquello lo que significa los Zuavos del Mundo.

This is the new logo for the blog Zouaves of the World.

It has round form, in two tonalities of brown, with two phrases of framing Zouaves of the world in Spanish and in English, separating a star of six tops, with aform of the knot and the clover in the center.

The circle, represents the globality of the Zouaves, which they have been and are present at the five continents. Also this form represents the earth planet, and effort the concept World.

The colors chosen in brown tonalities, it gives an approach vintage, announcing the antiquity of the creation of the Zouaves's first corp. Add it to it, has in the background like and old paper.

Around the contour, there are two texts, of Zouaves of the World, in Spanish in the upper part and in in English in botton part. This meaning, that the first language is spanish, but also in english to expand to the rest of the planet, like the the blog, that is in two language. To separate the both texts, two stars of six tops, which are those that use the officials of the Terç de Suavos.

Finally the central motive, it is a knot with the clover, which calls "tombeau", and is the main decorative object in the Zouave´s jacket. Is the the symbol that Caracterized the Zouaves.
