Cançons de Suavos - Songs of Suavos

Esta recopilación de canciones de los suavos la realizó Manolo Beneyto en el año 2001 con motivo de su capitanía, de tal manera que esas canciones que han pasado de generación en generación no cayeran en el olvido, y se recopilase en un formato de fácil consulta, aunque en la actualidad con las nuevas tecnologías se pueden consultar en la pagina web de la Filà Terç de Suavos (http://www.suavos.com/).

Estas canciones, las cuales se creaban cada año, en algunas ocasiones se realizan más de una, servia como diversión en las noches de que se pasaba en el maset. El origen de estas canciones es muy diverso, y utilizaban los compases de la música del momento, alguna de ellas datan de principio del siglo XX, y otras de los años 40, 50, 60, etc. Las tres últimas canciones son realizadas por los amigos del capitán.

This book of Suavo´s songs was made by Manolo Beneyto in 2001 on his captaincy, so those songs that have passed from generation to generation does not fall into oblivion, and was made an easy format to consult it. but today with the new technologies are available on the website of Terç de Suavos (http://www.suavos.com/).

These songs, which are created each year, sometimes more than one, served as entertainment in the evenings in the Maset. The origin of these songs is very diverse, and used the compasses of the music of the moment, some of them dating from the beginning of the twentieth century and the 40´s, 50´s, 60´s, etc. And the trhee last ones, was made from the Captain´s friends.

Escudo de armas Zuavos del Papa - The Shield of arms of the Pope´s Zouaves .

Este escudo de armas que se encuentra en los bajos del Maset de la Filà Terç de Suavos de Bocairent, cuyo autor es desconocido, quiere mostrar el escudo de armas de los antiguos Zuavos del Papa de Bocairent, nombre de origen de la filà, la cual muestra los siguientes elementos:

La cruz característica del Terç de Suavos, rodeada de un ribete dorado que resalta más la cruz sobre un fondo azul como color de la chaqueta y chaleco en forma circular, que a su vez, lo rodea un anillo granate, como color de los pantalones bombachos.

En la parte superior, aparece una tiara pontifical, compuesta por tres coronas que representan las atribuciones del papa como “pastor”, “maestro” y “supremo sacerdote” de la Iglesia Católica y de la cual penden dos cintas. Y representan el génesis de la creación de la filà.

En la parte inferior, aparece dos palmas doradas cruzadas envolviendo a la cruz, cuyo significados entre otros es de justicia, martirio y amor. Que da significado a los valores de la filà como justicia; siendo todos sus miembros iguales, martirio; en honor al Obispo y Martir San Blas, y amor; por la gran camarería que hay entre todos sus miembros.

Envolviendo a estos tres símbolos encontramos un motivo gráfico vegetal, cuyo significado puede tener varias atribuciones, pero se percibe más como un motivo decorativo que significativo.

Y en un segundo plano, se hayan cruzadas por la parte trasera de los elementos anteriormente descritos de dos alabardas, que son las que utilizan la guardia Suiza del Vaticano.


This shield of arms that is in the basement of the Filà Terç de Suavos building in Bocairent (Valencia), whose author is unknown, wants to show the shield of arms of the old Pope´s Zouaves from Bocairent , name of origin of Filà , which shows the following elements:
The cross characteristic of the Terç de Suavos, surrounded by a golden ribon that stands out plus the cross on a blue bottom of the color of the jacket and vest in circular form, that as well, surrounds a garnet ring, color of the baggy trousers.

In the upper part, it appears a pontifical crown, composed by three crowns that represent the attributions of the Pope like "shepherd", "teacher" and "supreme priest" of the Catholic Church and which hang two tapes. And they represent the begining of the creation of the Filà Terç de Suavos.

In the bellow part, it appears two golden palms crossed surrounding to the cross, whose meaning among others terms as justice, martyrdom and love. That it gives meaning to the values of filà like justice; being all its equal members, martyrdom; in honor to Bishop and Martyr Saint Blas, and love; by great feeling that there is with all his members.

Surrounding to these three symbols we found vegetal graphical design, whose meaning can have several attributions, but it could be just decorative.

And in background, they have been crossed by the back part of the elements previously described, two halberds, that are those that uses the Swiss guard of the Vatican.

Zouaves de Herbert – Zouaves by Herbert

Bello grabado en color hecho a mano realizado por Herbert, el tamaño de la ilustración es de 16 x 12 cm (aproximadamente).

Muestra a los los primeros Zuavos en la batalla con todo el uniforme de campaña, donde lucharon entre otras contiendas en la toma de Mogador en la Batalla de Isly y la gloriosa batalla Djemma-Gazouat.

Publicado en 1846 en la “Ilustración antigua y moderna de Argelia” por los editores Furne y Compañía.

Shows the first Zouaves in the battle with the campaign uniform, where they fought in several battlesfields like the Mogador´s take, the Battle of Isly and glorious battle of Djemma Gazouat. Published in 1846 in the “ancient and modern illustration of Algeria” by the editors Furne and Co.

Canal de Historia ha comprado el blog Zuavos del Mundo por valor de 30.000 euros. La adquisición se relaciona con toda la estrategia de Canal de Historia “Ejércitos del Mundo” vinculada a la historia militar.

Zuavos del mundo es un blog muy activo con publicación de noticias semanales, algunas de ellas han sido clasificadas de gran valor histórico militar. Creado en el 2007 en la actualidad está en el top20 de blogs a nivel mundial de historia militar según Technoarmy. Zuavo de Doña María de la Nieves – Mrs. María de las Nieves Zouave.

El Batallón de Zuavos de Escolta del Infante don Alfonso Carlos de Borbón y Austria-Este fue uno de los cuerpos de los Zuavos Carlistas que se crearon durante la Tercera Guerra Carlista (1872 – 1876). Este cuerpo duró de 1873 a 1874, y fue la principal unidad de Zuavos en Cataluña, formando el 6º Batallón de Lérida.

Como se puede apreciar en la ilustración, no hay ningún elemento destacable con los otros cuerpos de los Zuavos Carlistas. La única diferencia que se puede apreciar es en el tombeau, o el motivo que aparece en los frontales de la chaqueta, los Zuavos Carlistas adoptaron estos motivos de los Zuavos Pontificios, con el doble trébol de tres hojas, y no del proveniente de los Zuavos Franceses como se suele representar con el trébol de tres hojas, y la lazada. En este se ve la diferencia, ya que en vez de un trébol, es una cruz de tres puntas, la cual la parte de abajo se une a otra cruz de tres puntas, este tipo de cruz se denomina evangelista, y es totalmente diferente, a la que utilizó por ejemplo el comandante del Batallón de Escolta del Infante Alfonso, Ignacio Wills. También destacar que el ribete es de color negro, y no de color amarillo como lo suelen representar.

The Escort Battalion Zouave´s of the Infante Don Carlos Alfonso de Borbon y Austria-Este was one of the corps of the Carlist Zouaves that were created during the III Carlist War (1872 to 1876). This corp were created from 1873 to 1874, and was the principal Zouave unit in Catalonia forming the 6th Lerida´s Battalion.

As shown in the illustration, nothing remarkable with the other corps of the Carlist Zoauves. The only difference is the tombeau , or garnish that t appears in front of the jacket, the Carlist Zoauves adopted these garnish by the Pontifical Zoauves, with the dual three-leaf clover, and not from the French Zoauves as they represent the clover three leaves, and the loop. Here is the difference, because instead of a clover, is a cross of three corners, where the bottom is bound to cross another three points, this type of cross is called an evangelist, and is totally different that the commander of the Escort Battalion of the Infante Alfonso, Ignacio Wills. Another difference is the black trim, not yellow as they often represent.

El Zuavo herido - The Wounded Zouave

El artista en Washington representa a un Zuavo herido en el hospital de Washington que mira agradecido con la cara hacia arriba a esta amable enfermera en el hospital. La pobre evidencia de la atención por la voluntariedad de esta enfermera la cual él no lo entiende en absoluto, se denota un cierto secretismo que da la sensación que esta honesta enfermera agradecida la cual abre su corazón hacia él.

The artist in Washington represents a wounded Zouave in the hospital at Washington looking gratefully up at the face of his kind hospital nurse. The poor fellow is evidently not used to the tender attention bestowed upon him by the lady volunteer; he does not quite understand it, and some secret well of honest, grateful feeling seems to have been suddenly opened in his heart.
